Hello all,
As I mentioned in a message just over a week ago, there is a special interest
group within IMS which is drafting charters for future work on the Metadata
specification. Harmonisation with the LOM is given a high priority: this could
well mean that IMS will no longer maintain a separate metadata specification or
binding. It is possible that the current specification will be deprecated. Other
areas being given lower priority are educational extensions to the LOM and
addressing issues relating to accessibility.
IMS have asked for input into the process of identifying which areas need
looking at, and with what aims. They are asking for opinions from people who
have implemented the current specifications / LOM, and have suggested a
telephone conference to discuss these issues on Friday at 9-10am US EST (GMT+5)
[I make that 2-3pm UK time]. Please let me know if you would like to take part
--places are limited, so let me know sooner rather than later. If you are unable
to take part but have something to say then by all means contact me and I shall
pass your concerns onto the IMS group.
Sorry for the short notice, there is an up-coming IMS meeting, which is setting
a fairly tight deadline.
Best regards, Phil.
