Actually, it's 180% of basic salary for working a 48-hour week, Andrew!
And
that amounts to an 80% hike in salary for a 20% hike in workload, which
is 4
times normal rate if I'm allowed to put it that way.
You are allowed of course to put it any way you want. But a 48 hour week
does not get Band 2a. Over 48 hours up to 56 hours is Band 2a. 48 hours
is Band 1a. And the 50% or 80% hike is not for a 20% or 40% hike in
workload it is for both the workload and the anti-social nature of that
workload.
This was one of the many problems of ADHs. Even if we had achieved 200%
ADHs this only applied once someone had worked 40 hours. Particularly
for juniors in our specialty many of those 40 hours would have been
during anti-social hours but paid at standard rate.
I guess this rather technical discussion is boring all of the non-UK
list members and most of the UK ones now so I will stop and go to work!
Best wishes
Andrew
