The early French pre-hospital work showed better ROSC reaching hospital but
the second study to follow this group to discharge showed no better outcome.
Now was this the multiple factors in hospital care or poor state of those
delivered to hospital, despite a pulse?
I found the Cardiopump hard work & another piece of kit to carry. The depth
scale was useful to maintain good compression & detect operator fatigue.
Having seen the Paris SAMU enthusiastically using the ACD & nearly lifting
the patient off the pavement (I can't remember the idiomatic French for
"giving it some welly"). Good standard CPR with the same enthusiasm may give
as good results.
