This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced records management
professional to maintain and develop an established Council-wide RM service.
The Records Centre is based in Victoria Street, London and contains
approximately 300,000 manual records. The centre has recently acquired
dedicated RM software (TRIM 4.3) to streamline operations and automate key
processes, allowing you to focus on delivering the best service to our
customers. The software is also being used to pilot electronic records
management.
The job: You will report to the Corporate Records Manager and be responsible
for co-ordinating the work of three Records Officers. You must possess
excellent communication skills to liaise with staff throughout the
organisation, be patient and methodical, and able to lead a small team. It
is essential that you are self-motivated and show initiative and that you
can work under pressure. You will also need the strategic vision to help
develop the RM service and exploit the opportunities offered by
E-Government, Freedom of Information and Data Protection.
Salary: £22,476-£24,699 (pay award pending) + up to 15% PRP
Essential skills/experience:You will need to be educated to degree level or
equivalent (post-graduate RM qualification desirable) and possess at least
two years' experience in a centralised records centre. A high level of
computer literacy is essential, as is a keen professional interest in
records and information management issues. Previous staff management
experience would be advantageous. A good level of fitness is required since
lifting is involved.
