Hi All,
Subsequent to our NorthGrid meeting, Tony Doyle has asked for us to start
a discussion of access rules for tier-2 sites once we are up and running. An
example of an approach is from ScotGrid, which is not yet implemented as I
understand it.

The sort of issues that need to be decided are how we share between
experiments, but also how we share with other users on SRIF and other
joint-funded fabrics. We are asked to highlight local issues. One that
occurs to me, given local interests, is the need to share storage resources,
which does not seem to have received much thought. I would have thought
that simplest model would just follow the quantity of media bought by each
experiment and user group - although quotas based on subgroups will also be
needed.
Any thoughts would be welcome. I will be travelling tomorrow, but will
try to reconnect early on Thursday morning. I will try to put out a draft
version of the NorthGrid talk on Thursday, the talk will be given just
before lunch on Friday.
Cheers,
Roger
P.S. I've not forgotten the pro-forma letter of support we agreed I should
draft!
