Wendy, I have a ground plan of St. Peters which shows the "Altare di
San Leone il Grande" located in the back side of the niche which, as
you face the baldachino, separates the left transept from the apse
which contains the Throne of Peter. It is immediately to the left of
the monument to Alexander VIII and flanked at 90 degrees by the Altar
of the Virgin of the Column (Vergine della Colonna). I hope this
