I'm very surprised by the outburst of suppressed feelings around the issues on NeuroDiversity. I'm very surprised at this reaction and my intentions where to open up the debate to try and out for research purposes what neuro-diversity means and how much do others know about NeuroDiversity ?
Can anyone tell me why this subject has brought up deep suppressed emotions, in which I feel that there is no right by anyone on this list or any other disability list to attack another individual for having differing opinion and viewpoints.
I'm in the opinion that it's important to bring up issues like this in an open debate, but we all should be able to discuss all issues as rational adults and if you don't agree with the others persons viewpoint at least show some respect to others as human-beings whom have experiences internalised oppression at different levels.
I find it insulting to all disabled people that individuals feel that there should a hierarchy of impairments, why we all live with our own internalised oppression and I believe that we are going to be 'united', then we have to stop this in-fighting, because we are then playing in the hands of the Governments and other 'oppressors' around the globalised world and the U.K.
Can anyone inform whre the the term NeuroDiversity came from and give me an historical account of this term.
Regards
Colin Revell
