A circular went around to all Chief Executives end of last year stating that
if Colleges were seen to "effect the service" i.e. closures , this would be
acted on by Head Office.... (or words to that effect). If Colleges do act in
such a way they will end up having their power severely curtailed by this
Government.
I would support the move to employing more people in A&E who know what they
are doing... but the people are not out there to employ at the moment even
if the money was. Perhaps the College was looking for a commitment from the
Trust to work towards 24 hr cover??
