Hello everyone just to introduce myself as I am new to the list I am the
Contaminated Land Officer for St Helens Council.
At St Helens and other Merseyside Districts we are approaching the stage to
prioritise all sites identified as potentially contaminated for further
inspection, to do this we have developed a GIS computer model based on the
source, pathway, receptor relationship. Receptors represented by datasets
in digital format are required for use in the model, one dataset for
agricultural land is proving difficult to obtain. We have obtained a set of
datasets from the then MAFF on classifications of agricultural land which
date from the 1980's in digital format, which is of course now a bit dated,
but further enquiries with DEFRA indicate there is nothing else, not in
digital format anyway. How are other authorities dealing with the question
of receptors representing agricultural land, particularly those situated in
rural areas where it is more of a problem, can anyone suggest a source
where digital information on areas of agricultural land can be obtained.
You input would be appreciated
