David, thank you for considering my problem. Thanks, too, to others who have
kindly offered interesting suggestions, which I am pondering.

I am thinking about of the cost of the time to set everything up and
maintain it as much as the cost of software. The details of the members are
held in a database called SMART. This is the company-specified system and
can't be linked to the web server for security reasons. I don't yet have
access to SMART, but our IT dept is willing to periodically output the names
from the database for me and it's up to me to specify the format. I was
thinking that would have to be some form of HTML, but I shall ask them if
they could read it into a web-searchable database.

That would be efficient, but the login/access issue is already handled by an
existing system on our server.
