If anyone has a moment to respond to the questions below about their web
service I would be extremely grateful, as we try and work out the best way
to reorganise.
Currently, this University College has a small web unit operating within
Library Services with no allocated budget, staffed by one half-time web
manager and one full-time web author. It has responsibility for the core
website (homepage and main index pages), has no formal links either to the
External Relation Office or to Computing Services and provides varying
degrees of assistance and advice to support department web authors.
Academic departments have their own Faculty Support personnel.
My questions are:
1. How is your web service organised and in management terms to whom is it
answerable?
2. When did it become established in this way, and what did it replace?
3. How many people work for the web service (full-time and part-time)?
4. If you could change anything about the way the service is organised or
functions, what would it be?
Any other information/advice you think might be relevant would also be
greatly appreciated. Replies will be regarded as confidential and used only
by me in order to compile a report recommending how best to move our own
web service forward.
Many thanks
