Hi,
You may be interested in the upcoming "Cocoon GetTogether", an annual
gathering of anyone interested in Cocoon. If you're using Cocoon, or
you're thinking of switching to an XML framework for your web site, then
this is the event for you.
The event is in Ghent, Belgium on 7th October. I've included a bit of the
official "blurb" below. If you've got any questions, I'd be happy to
answer them!
-O-
Apache Cocoon is a web development framework built around the concepts
of separation of concerns and component-based web development, and in
active use throughout major institutions across Europe and the US.
Cocoon implements these concepts around the notion of "component
pipelines", each component on the pipeline specializing on a particular
operation. This makes it possible to use a Lego(tm)-like approach in
building web solutions, hooking together components into pipelines
without any required programming.
Cocoon is "web glue for your web application development needs". It is a
glue that keeps concerns separate and allows parallel evolution of all
aspects of a web application, improving development pace and reducing
the chance of conflicts.
Cocoon offers access and exploitation of all kinds of enterprise
datasources, comes with a built-in portal framework, and has making
active progress in the last year towards becoming a reference web
application development framework for serious, XML-centric web
applications.
-O-
Last year's meeting was a great success, with close to 100 attendees,
and this year's event is expected to go beyond that:
- the event is now organized by Orixo (www.orixo.com), the
International XML Business Alliance,
- we moved into a larger venue in the heart of Ghent
- a similar high quality presentation programme as last year
- a unique opportunity to learn about Cocoon, and to meet the people
who drive its development or fellow Cocoon enthusiasts
- the presence of many key Cocoon community members
- a pleasant mix of people, nationalities, business and open source,
deep-technical talks and spiritualizing information exchanges
- and all this at a very low cost (60 EUR for the day)
We would be delighted to meet you during this year's edition of the
GetTogether. All info and a registration form can be found at
