I would have to agree with Tom, VLE feature are not what to look ut for
but look to see how a VLE is actually managed by an institution. How do
they manage access to the VLE by both staff and students, how do they
plan for development and implementation of VLE courses and VLE support?
Do they have a training plan for staff - and the true costs of it?
I would have to say that more features is probably more of a mixed
blessing, you can do more, but you need more training to do it.

typically vendors will offer reference sites. These, of course, are
ones where things have worked well.
However, most of the horror stories that I have heard around VLEs relate
to lack of staff development.
I think that the most useful information that you will gain from talking
to users, and it is useful, is what has worked for them and what they
had hoped would be useful but found that they are not using.
People often look for features when buying the system which are then not
actually used when the system is implemented, so it is very useful to
know what people have actually used.
regards.
Tom.
