typically vendors will offer reference sites. These, of course, are ones
where things have worked well.
However, most of the horror stories that I have heard around VLEs relate to
lack of staff development.
I think that the most useful information that you will gain from talking to
users, and it is useful, is what has worked for them and what they had hoped
would be useful but found that they are not using.
People often look for features when buying the system which are then not
actually used when the system is implemented, so it is very useful to know
what people have actually used.
