We are considering purchasing Reading List Direct (RLD)and would be very
interested in anyone who has practical experience of this product,
particularly in relation to integration with WebCT. We are in contact with
the vendors but we'd appreciate any impartial opinions from those "in the
field"
1. Does RLD software offer protection of Reading Lists? So that only
staff/students on the relevant course get access to a given reading list.
2. Can that protection be integrated into a local username/password system
(LDAP, Kerberos etc)? i.e. any given user can use their network username
and password to get access to their reading list(s).
3.Can the system be tied to ATHENS Devolved Authentication so that a user
already logged in can access ATHENS protected resources without re-
authenticating?
4.Can the authentication mechanism be tied to other systems in any way, to
provide Single Sign On between systems - e.g. Logging on to VLE or Portal
automatically authenticates you with the Reading List software (as well as
setting up an ATHENS DA session).
Ideally we want a scenario where it doesn't matter which system you log
into, this logon should authorise you to access all the other systems as
well as setting up an ATHENS DA session.
