There is a version of the SuperHighway Safety for UK Online Centres which is
of value to post 16 use generally.
This can be found at http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk/ukonline/

Hi
Although I have not specifically looked at the use of 'community sites'
(yet) I am currently reviewing our Acceptable Use Policy for both staff and
students and would recommend the following resources for reference.
The NGfL have updated their excellent Superhighway Safety: Safe use of the
Internet and produced a version particularly for schools. As you can
imagine, despite the differences between schools, and post 16 education,
there are areas of common concern. http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk/schools
The Employees' Email Guide: How to use email in the workplace.
http://www.surfcontrol.com/general/assets/whitepapers/using_email_in_the_wor
kplace.pdf This covers best practice, corporate confidentiality,
Productivity, legal liability, security as well as information on email
style and content. www.surfcontrol.com also have information on AUPs which
may be of use.
The best thing about these resources for me is that they are ready prepared
and available to use in staff training sessions also.

Hi
Does anyone have any guidance/policy on use on "community sites" in the
FE sector. I am referring to use of sites such as Yahoo Groups, MSN
Communities, ezboard, myclass.net etc... by teaching staff with
students.
My areas for concern are implications on the use of these in relation to
the Data Protection Act, Copyright Act and possibly the Child Protection
Act (porn advertising in particular with reference to ezboard).
