Here's my ten pence worth...
ICT and gender issues tend to re-surface every year or two - I think
bringing VLEs into the discussion is over-complicating an already complex
series of issues.
VLEs (and I think we're the only country on the planet that agonises over
VLEs/MLEs etc.) are still in their infancy - no point solving other problems
with something that's only half-baked....
There's loads of research on gender issues - another item appeared this

Btw I can recommend the daily email from www.distance-educator.com - it's
not utterly devoted to 'Distance' stuff and there's always something
interesting going on somewhere....
