There seem to be a number of e-mails of late advertising a range of professional
development opportunities with regard to eLearning. How does one choose from the
growing number of courses - is it on longevity, level of the final award, word
of mouth, latest gizmo being used?
The CeLTT team feel that what matters is whether the learning experience
translates into action - does what is learnt make a difference to practice?
Although a relatively new programme of study, the Certificate in eLearning,
Teaching and Training has already proven its worth amongst practitioners in
Further and Higher Education who have begun to implement new approaches to
learning and teaching drawing upon what they have learnt whilst engaged in the
programme. Strengths of CeLTT include the level of support provided by programme
tutors, its experiential nature and focus on professional practice.
The four courses that make up the Certificate are resource-based and represent
a range of approaches to eLearning that model current good practice. The
programme is delivered on-line using a range of tools, learning, teaching and
assessment methods. Participants work as individuals, in small and larger
groups undertaking research, portfolio production, reflective and analytical
writing, and evaluative and collaborative tasks.
The programme will be relevant to any teacher or trainer, irrespective of
geographical location, who has an interest in or requires an understanding of
the theory and practice involved in the design and delivery of eLearning,
Teaching and Training and wishes to gain personal experience of working within a
virtual learning
environment. This would include; teachers, lecturers, trainers, ILT/ICT
Champions, administrators, managers, educational and learning technologists,
consultants and learning facilitators and assistants.
A 'blended' version of an Introduction to eLearning, Teaching and Training (the
first course of the programme) is available as 4 one day f2f workshops with pre
and post on-line activities. This version of the initial course may be of
particular interest to staff developers seeking to integrate an accredited
programme of study with an in-house programme.
