Rob Brock - who sells the Brox pedal powered delivery vehicle, has had
dealings with SuperdeBoer - the major Dutch retailer who is to many motor
biased shoppers 'invisible' as their 'supermarkets' have no car parks, and
are of a size & location suited to customers arriving by bike or on foot.
I think that they have a pretty good grasp of their marketplace.
There is also a reference in the EC (DGXIII) publication from 1999 Cycling
The way ahead in Towns & Cities to a swiss study of supermarket shoppers -
the detail taken for this work being the amount purchased by motorists and
cyclists, vs the area of non-retail (earning) space required for customer
parking - the cyclists generated 20% MORE revenue per sq.m than the motorists.
After all when you hang the money element onto any study, it gains much
greater interest and support.
