Special Issue of Journal of Safety Research on Graduated
Driver Licensing
Elsevier would like to draw your attention to a special issue of Journal of
Safety Research, volume 34, issue 1.
This supplement is devoted to the issue of graduated driver licensing and
consists of papers prepared by acknowledged experts which were presented at
the "Symposium on Graduated Driver Licensing: Documenting the Science of
GDL" held in Chatham, MA, from November 5 to 7, 2002.
'These proceedings provide a comprehensive review of the research that has
been done on teenage driver safety issues and the licensing measures that
have been put in place to reduce their risk of crash or fatality while
maintaining a reasonable level of mobility. Beginning with the genesis of
this approach and concluding with a future research agenda, together, they
make a compelling case for the adoption or strengthening of GDL laws in each
state.' Mei-li Lin, Editor of Safety Research.
