Can anyone help with the whereabouts of Pepys' stone?
Alternatively, Professor Lowenfels would be delighted to receive
suggestions for alternative famous cases, preferably supported by an
extant specimen.

Dear Sirs,
May I ask if the museum has any information about what happened to
Samuel
Pepys famous bladder stone. I believe he wore it around his neck and
eventually placed it in a special case. But where is it now?
The explanation for my interest is as follows: Several times each year,
with the cooperation of Medscape/WebMD, I publish short "surgical
perspectives" articles on the internet. We present a famous patient's
history, tell about the disease/operation as it occurred, then describe
current treatment. Samuel Pepys would be perfect. Examples of previous
presentations include Albert Einstein (Aortic aneurysm) and Humphrey
Bogart
(Cancer of the esophagus)
So, in summary, any help with Pepys, or any other suggestions for
candidates, based on material in your collection, would be wonderful!
Many thanks for your help and interest.
