Hi Anastasia,
In Japan (and also in Korea), the ascidian Halocynthia roretzi and
Halocynthia aurantium are cultivated as foods. The mariculture is
particularly richly in Miyagi and Iwate. There are many mariculture
companies but they do not usually English home page. You may be
able to get some information from the web site of Miyagi Prefecture
(http://www.pref.miyagi.jp/english/index.htm). You can have a look
at the ropes covered with a number of Halocynthia at
http://www.pref.miyagi.jp/saibai/YUTAKANA/yousyoku/hoya.htm
You may want to make contact with somebody in Miyagi prefecture.
I am afraid I do not have connection with people who cultivate
ascidians.
Best wishes,
Shigeki Fujiwara
