Myrrh appears in the Song of Songs as a joyful fragrance.

<< Hi Ryfkah,
A fine poem - it's interesting how narrative poems are getting written again
these days - and I like the way the focus narrows down from all the women,
and all the laughter, to just the one woman and her laughing/sleeping child
at the end (well that's how I read it...).
But I didn't quite feel easy with:
"hope held like candlelight
in a narrow dark birth canal"
because it sounds so painful trying to get candlelight in there! (LOL!)
and myrhh more of a funeral perfume that anything that can be linked with
laughter?
