Thus Spoke the Poet
thepeacockweepshoundscreamschildbays
Between Mars and the Moon
the boy grasps a crayon
searches for the right skin tone
Tears waterfall his face
Conflagration looming
college students again fashion
placards for peace now
Two men kiss
Cars honk to stop the war
In winter's garden
camellias bloom unfragrant
in an assorted array
Peacocks like mourners
weep as the world prays
The sun postures as a skullcap
A grizzled dog tethered
beneath the moonless night
screams near Coyote Hills
concrete conceived
asphalt stained
The gyre spins
swiftly to effect
prophecy Evolution
subdues its whirl
like a child's top
wound too tightly
Return to The Garden
or Apocalypse
