Dear Mike,
There is at least one site (free when I last looked0 where you can record
messages using a mike plugged in to your computer. It's sent as an audio-file
in anemail. The recipient clicks on to the link in the message, and the
program on the site translates the message into sound -oo, techological
wizardry. I suppose we could use this to read our poems at people over the
list.
Kind regards
grasshopper

Hi Christina,
An amusing read. The sounds your cat makes, or rather the way
you describe them, fascinate. I wonder how long it will be before we have
the technology to send sounds in an email. I like the ending, it leaves me
wondering what kind of a mess that fat brown rat is making on a carpet
somewhere.
Best wishes, Mike

Nightly
Mr Deepvoice comes with a fat brown rat,
drops it at my door and waits.
My bed's clean, my sheets fresh and starched -
I won't let you in, Mr Deepvoice.
You're black and moulting, my sheets are white.
I've sprinkled Moondew oil on my pillow,
I'm listening to the radio. Forget it.
Mr Deepvoice issues unearthly sounds -
pyramidical meows, sphinxotic yowls -
warnings of gales in Viking, Southeast Iceland,
severe gale 9 in North Utshire - dangles
from my doorhandle. No way, Mr Deepvoice
but before you can say Lily Bolero,
he's in, nuclear missile of a beast,
flinging himself into the bed, purring.
Mission accomplished, fat brown rat forgotten.
