To Pete Kalu
Re: the newly published "PEACE POEMS and meditations on peace", pub. CROCUS
BOOKS, 2003,£6-99
Dear Pete,
Congratulations on a tour de force publishing event. Why isn't every
publisher doing something? Ah well, I reckon sales will be brilliant.
I'll certainly be ordering more.
Jo, that fine bloke, runs the monthly Open Floor poetry evening, in
Clitheroe, and has offered the next such night (Thursday 27th February, 7-30
at The New Inn, Parson's Lane, Clitheroe) as a LAUNCH NIGHT OF THE PEACE
POEM ANTHOLOGY (Crocus Pub.). I would read there as well as, we hope, other
contributors, e.g. Helen Clare has long-standing connections with the
Clitheroe poetry scene, Lynne Taylor regularly attends, and Steve Waling has
expressed an interest. You may want to email other contributors etc.
Jo Harding also runs a Roundstone Books, 120 Lowergate, in Clitheroe (which
is actually the best second-hand bookshop I've seen. You must look in.
Amazing. Not a speck of dust, great classification, and he knows books, open
Tue., Thur., Fri, 10-5: [log in to unmask], Tel 01200444242/425456 but I
digress...).
Jo requests that we bring ten copies of the anthology for sale. I wait to
here from you how best to achieve this.
The anthology is beautifully produced and it is a great honour to be part of
it, and to have a page opposite John Lennon really put the icing on.
Yours very truly,
Philip Burton
P.S I'm copying this letter to Steve Waling (God bless you Steve).
