I guess it depends how much space the poets ego leaves for the ego of the
reader and the possibility of interaction.

Great imagery, but at the moment the writer's ego dominates too much for me
to be able to read this as poetry. I feel there's a topiary job to be done.
I like the galoshes stanza very much though I tend to think of poets as the
daft buggers who don't wear galoshes!

Helen, does ego prevent a work from being a poem or craft? I suspect in the
classical there is ego enough for anyone.
I do too, which is why I see it as absurd.
