Yeh, I think you've said it well, Sally. Great's a word that doesn't belong 
to writers or what they write.
(And when I hear the phrase "well written" I often wonder if that's damning 
with faint praise...) But when I hear "a good poem" I sort of feel the 
reader and the writer are close to each other.

Who thinks the poem is about a subject he's sure about - being a cat-person 
more than a dog-person... But if poodle-owners feel a sort of growl after 
reading it then that's good!
