Gary,
I agree with Sue, it's a great metaphor for poetry and for life too. I
remember as a youngster being encouraged to empty my rucksack after a trip
and to put in one pile anything that I hadn't used, with a view to leaving
it behind next time. ' course if you do this you end up taking half the
clothes and twice the money on the next trip. Seriously tho' there are so
many things in life that look like purposeful activities and so many pieces
of information that sound great but which go unused in the end.
