A beautiful and strange sort of poem, Barbara. You create the irony. You
might look at your structure regarding "the smell of peppermint tea and candles
alight wrap." If you are referring to smell as your subject with tea and
candles being the object of the preposition of, then you verb should be wraps.
However, if you are referring to a plural subject i.e. smell and candles then
wrap would be correct. If is difficult to tell, but it did stop me. This could
be corrected easily by recasting the sentence to "Candles alight and the smell
of peppermint tea wrap" as a possibility. Indeed, this is a small nit for
such a perfect little gem of a poem. Sue
