Philip, thanks. The last words are official so I suppose it was whisky, in
1953, vodka was not the popular drink it is now. Dylan was a notorious
braggart about his drinking and probably exaggerated. His condition appears
to have been mishandled by the doctor at the time, but he almost certainly
died from alcohol abuse over many years. Dylan and Hopkins have both
influenced my writing as do Heany and Eliot now. I have alluded to only two
Thomas references. 'Owl-lit' from Altarwise by owl-light and dusty dark from
Under Milk Wood where night flies like black flour through the baker's.
There may be others I am not conscious of but that might occur in any poem
given his influence upon my writing.
To 'copy' his style is a bit of fun anyway although I do not think he wrote
a sonnet, did he?
Gary. thanks ,that passage is under consideration but no changes yet.
Sue , you are very generous and I thank you, however inaccurate I might feel
you to be. LOL.
Sally E Thanks for your kind response. I hope I haven't deified him, I think
the man brilliant poet, poor sort of man, to have drunk himself dead like
that.He turned Caitlin into an alcoholic as well I understand. I hope too
that I have not deified Sylvia Plath, certainly that was not intended.
Shah, thanks for the info, Doctor.
Ryfkah, thanks for your input, greatly valued, Sister -poet.
Frank, thanks for your comments.
