Welcoming the Guest
The sun entered her hut
through a hole in the roof
and sat near the hearth.
The lady, busy with her cooking,
welcomed the guest with a smile.
"He's gone to college," she answered
when he inquired about her son.
"There he learns about radiation,
the power and the energy you amass;
also of the falsity of the moonlight -
the boys now know the moon is a satellite,
has no light of her own;
you gracefully lend yours to her."
The sun, delighted, laughed: Yes,
yes, the times are changing for sure.
The lady continued,
"He can't accept you as God;
objects to my worshipping you as such."
Says: what is there to worship in him?
That sun is a huge mass of fire,
his light reaches our earth,
plants take up the energy
and give us fruits and flowers.
That way, if you want to thank him,
I have no objection. But God, no!
But I want to worship you as God,
and that faith he tries to shake,
O sun, tell me what am I to do?
The sun, thoughtful for a while, said:
"Continue to worship me as God, for,
as a manifestation of Maya I'm power,
but in essence I am Consciousness Pure.
He will realize the Truth one day,
and that day is not far away,
for, of late, I have seen your son
walking, hand in hand, with a beautiful damsel."
