Now if I were God I would have a serious rethink about dandelions and slugs.
As custodian of a small patch of the planet I have to complain that these
blight my life. Dandelions are so irrepressibly cheerful, however, even in
the dirtiest corner that they are partially redeemed of their less friendly
aspects. Slugs are beyond redemption. They were thrown out of Pandora's box
for their disgusting looks and behaviour.
After that brief tirade may I thank you for your generous response, Sue *
grin*.
Regards Arthur.

<< The expulsion
Dandelions were not intended here
so I pronounce them ‘Weed’;
wrench them out, expel them,
bid them burn their bright discs
in another place; leave me to coax
petunias or dahlias out of this warm earth.
Their tiny suns fold into a sleep, a change
and come the first warm days
a frail sphere, soft as web, will bloom,
silent as sin and wind-borne,
they’ll paraglide in battalions
to storm my tidy world. >> A gem of a poem -- the allusion to Eden
enhances it. No dandelions in Eden, how unique the thought, and then there
i s a
subtle reference to the soul that returns in battalions or perhaps warring
angels. Never mind. The allusions, the connotations open this little poem
up into
vast realms of thought. Now I shall never think of dandelions without
thinking of Eden.
