Hello Christina,
I find this one intriguing. The way you present the monologue is original and the jerky, disjointed structure of the lines suits that well and you move around specific complaints to create a generalised sense of disatisfaction - I like that. I didnīt quite see why the person you address towards the end wouldnīt understand the speakerīs state of mind since it seems a fairly familiar situation. I didnīt get the bit about the light on and off, either, but that didnītdisturb me īcos Iīm so used by now to not getting it ;-)
Best wishes, mike

No
The thing is, the mind tricks.
Memory's unpredictable. Every face,
capped or uncapped, for a moment, well,
I thought was it him. Even women:
not all, but some. And I think,
perhaps better never
to see him: not to feel huge anger
when he fails to show, the way he always fails,
except, not always, but often,
at least
that's how it was.
I don't expect
you'll understand when the phone rings
it might be him. Or not. No,
how could you?
Or the light
on/off, on/off; or playing
and saving, playing and saving
until
the tape's full.
