          Thanks for your feedback, glad you liked the poem. The statue in the poem is loosely based on the statue of Peter the great that stands in St Petersburg. But the poem is not `about´ that statue, it´s about the urge that leads people to sculpt statues at all, or write poetry, paint pictures, build bridges, think, create order out of chaos, construct philosophical systems, invent computers and email. I think that if there was a competition for small poems with big subjects I might enter this one ;-)

This is a wonderfully rendered poem, Mike, very visual.  I am wondering
though specifically whose statue it is.  Would an introductory epigraph be a good
