Hi all who're reading this,
And thanks, James, Ryfkah,Frank, Christina, for the comments...
Maybe I should have said more... like who WCW is: it's/he's William Carlos
Williams and I'm imitating his poem about plums that begins, "This is just
to say" which includes plums and an ice box/fridge - not a pillow! (there's
been a few spoofs of his poem, the ones I like are by Kenneth Koch and Tom
Leonard!)
I guess the link has to be made to make the poem do the business. The
original poem, I feel, has a fair bit of underlying eroticsism/sensuality to
it - unlike the Koch & Leonard spoofs I've mentioned - and I guess this is
more a homage than a wicked take!
I was a tad worried about the last line, too... but I didn't know how else
to phrase it (and keep to the rhythm of the original I'm imitating!) - any
ideas, anyone??? The whole poem is "supposed" to be superimposable!
And, Christina: h'm, maybe there's a well practsed art to sucking ripe,
juicy, plums!
Bob
