This will be my last sub for some time. I've got one or two things to crack
on with. However I'll stay on line to trade body blows and so on for a few
more days. I'll be back with another swag of poems sometime. Not sure when.
In the meantime, thanks for putting me up or putting up with me, whichever
it was. I've really enjoyed myself, and benefited along the way, I hope.
Power to your pens,
Colin
Gravity
Climbing the hill I feel the pull
of the land downwards
as if to suck me into the soil,
embrace me in a lover's grave,
bound at the very moment
when I strive against it,
to be separate,
surveyor of clouds and sun.
I live as the spray from the wave
at the wave's apex,
airborne,
of water and beyond it,
aloft on swell of hills
that allows me this high
and no further.
The kestrel's flight
soars over the bones of voles
whose rent flesh devoured
made separate bird from stone
and the skull hollowed by wind, time and worm
lies on the grass,
sinking even as the sun shines in the socket's eye.
