I wish I'd known about the festival.
Please, let me know if there are any events for July - September, I'll take
a couple of weeks.

I agree; writing is a process. Just do it! Take each word like a breath and
write it for sustenance, for survival.
Sandra Cisneros, the great Latina poet/writer, yesterday at the LA Times
Book
Festival said to write as if in your pajamas and as if what you are writing
can't be read until after your death. So this would not include anal
analysis of grammar and punctuation.
I am sorry if you thought any criticism was in mind; I was only speaking for
myself and my Catholic Grammar School background with nuns beating it
literally into our consciousness. :-)
I am the grammar fascist not out of choice but out of severe behavior
modification.

<< Dear Ryfkah,
Tolerance for, or understanding of, learning disabilities is something that
isn't found on most 'workshop' forums.
My misuse of punctuation is habitual and a direct result of public
education. I have not allowed this disability to prevent me from writing,
nor do I believe perfect punctuation, spelling or grammar should be used as
a means to determine the validity of any poetry.
There is more to poetry than proper commas, dashes and semi colons.
Specific learning disabilities such as transposing i's and e's or
consistently misspelling the same words or endings of words, is not a reason
or excuse for me to stop writing, or to stop posting.
When submitting work to a publication, I do make a concentrated effort to
edit and often have it edited again, by my husband and/or daughter.
Thanks for your comment,
Deborah
