Hi Bob,

He's a 'live' kind of fellow, isn't he? I too can 'see' him at the wedding -
a first visualisation, really. Short, balding, vbig nose, moth eaten suit
(striped) with a sprig of rosemary at his lapel, attached with something
adorned in the red, white and blue of the croatian flag (quite out of place
at this particular wedding, I might add). His shoes, I know, will be highly
polished, brown, and in good nick, but quite old.

My suggestion to guests, should they see such a character, will be for the
men to nod and smile and for the women to try to keep up.

With regard the writing, I don't think I want to use footnotes. I feel that
the poem should say enough iof what needs to be communicated within its
body. In that sense, I woul dbe comfortable with the extreme of Christina's
suggestion and have the words I want without translation, making sure that
the heart of the poem is communicated without reliance on them. I write
reports with footnotes for my work, and I really don't want to do that kind
of thing in my verse - a personal perspective, obviously. LOL

I've  given the piece a trial run at a poetry reading and that, plus
comments like yours will be enough to make sure that he's as slick as
wassname on glass come the day. I'll read it just before the cutting of the
cake, after which the dancing will begin (timing is everything LOL).
