Hi Christina (& Shah!),
Thanks for that insight!
I guess I am reading it (the poem in question) with a mind trained in and
too well used to UK English (not World English). And perhaps it's an
issue/deficiency I've carried with me for years because I can remember once
finding afro-carribean poetry so difficult to read easily as well: there I
felt it was lifeless, unrhymical... (no joke!). But after I'd heard a few
poets reading their poems I found I could enjoy them much more! I'm also not
too familiar with contemporary Indian poets. The only one that comes to mind
at the moment is Karmala Das. Are there any others I should look out for,
Shah?
Bob
