Good comments which I enjoyed reading. You are right of course. However a
tiny amount (eg less than 1 in a 100) is probably harmless enough. Motives
might be diverse but could include enjoyment (getting to say what they
think). Not sure if this trend explains why people are alienated from poetry
these days (if they are). My non-poetic friends don't like my poetry and
have roundly told me to stop sending it to them at Xmas, which is fair
enough, but then they don't like anyone else's poetry either. One reason is
that they can't understand it.
