Yes, its one of the estuary poems. There's enough for a collection if
anybody's interested. Some might be the next CD. C&C welcome as always.
SNOW GEESE
Washed in mud from a rush of storm
the river looks flat today in uniform
dun brown, until I reach the slipway
and see a pair of white snow geese
crouched amongst the shore detritus.
All around fine rain and mist has blurred
our wider vision - encapsulated us
inside this scene where there are sounds off
though no complimentary visible movement -
wories my geese companions more than me.
I slope softly along the bankside path
as both watch me with one eye each,
their heads move to my motion in unison
on well oiled hydralics, their feather, bone
and sinew, fixed expressions, mechanical.
I want to tell them I will keep my distance
yet know there is no way they would understand.
