James,

Sounds like an intrusive neighbour. Too many horror films perhaps. Out with
the garlic................

One point though, the creature bursting though the world appears to be
tangled in rope from the outset and yet gets tied up once through - so not
sure what is going on there. Also this diminishes its scariness as it is no
longer a threat. At this stage the protagonist merely needs to phone the zoo
to take it away.
