Yes, I love autumn and autumnal poems, and I love this. "Autumn tinted/
glasses" - I want some. Seriously, this is a fine original image for the
season of "deepened sun" - again a powerful and original image. "Deepened"
carries the weight of "buried sun", that only just surrected sun of autumn,
deep in mist and shorter days.
"Spring youth/worn summer-thin" Yes, yes, like the fading colours of spring
flowers that tempts us to rip them out and pile in garish summer
bedding.....
Overall pcture of "wearing out" without decay. Fascinating poem. Philip

>Low in deepened sun,
>green shade
>that autumn tinted
>glasses bring.
>Spring youth
>worn summer thin,
>discarded now
>for darker cloth
>long grooved
>from stubble fields;
>unburnt, stacked with straw
>as if the ears
>were beaten from old carpets
>and the leavings rolled
>to rest on stalks
>that booted feet
>break like quiet falls
>of ice dulled nails.
