What you describe in this letter is indeed a symphony. It is just way too
much for your poem "Forest" to carry. You might try this, Colin, and you
will be busy for a long time, but what you will have will be a masterpiece:
put a number one at the top of this one. Then go on and write other poems
exploring in depth the things you have mentioned. Number each one. You may
wind up with thirty pages or more. And then you will have a book! But a
theme as you have presented it in your letter may take a book. It could very
well be worth it as indicated by your marvelous beginning. Think about it.
I expect this will take several years. So I am hitting you here with
something that may seem way more than you want to tackle, but it seems to me
that symphonies are that way too. Sue
