Hi Sally,
H'm...
I went to a school near Darlington too! - and so did Lewis Carol and the
Bronte sisters and Willie Wordsworth's wife... - but I went to Neasham
County Primary School (and they didn't!). We had a bus come up to the house
from Darlington Library once a fortnight. The only thing I remember about
the Library itself was a stone outside that commemorated someone who'd been
drowned on the Titanic... and the big heavy brass handles of the doors! Ah,
memories... We'd have toasted tea-cakes at the Co-op cafe, and there was
sometimes a guy roasting chestnuts near the bus queues, and I'd go home
reading the Hotspur, The Lion or The Tiger on the bus.
