Love the simplicity of this! It feels damp and cold where you were - and
were the poem's coming from - and the ironies of (absent) wool and
goose-down emerge for me.

Bob, it is indeed. That was the drive from Salem, Oregon to the coast,
through river bottom farms.

I was reminded of pictures I've seen occassionally of swans (I think)
looking entombed in ice/snow on lakes.
