Hello Christina,
This is an intriguing poem. I like the contrast between the precision of the description of the card and the vagueness of the identity of the sender...and their intentions. At least I read that part as undefined but I am wondering if I´ve missed a pointer somewhere. But the whole piece has a nice atmosphere. And that train must have been damned late if they were still waiting a year later.
Best wishes, Mike

Who sent this copper envelope
sealed with saliva, stamped Waterloo,
04.22pm, addressed in black,
smudged ink with a disguised hand?
Hallmark, price code 50, a chess board
of nine fuchsia and foil squares,
five splashed hearts in boxes.
It contains no message or love, no cross
kisses or pressed forget-me-nots. It holds
air: as full or empty as the sender
who picked it in a snatched moment
in transit at the station, waiting
for the next connection or text message -
still on the platform a year later.
