Grassy,
My interpretation of your anti-Americanism came from what I saw in your
ridicule of the "brass," one of whom was General Swartzkoff, the well-known
American general who conducted numerous briefings on the progress of the Gulf
War. The bomb missed that man, ( who was never the target) by a matter of
seconds. The bridge was the target. I don't know of anyone who is "for"
war, no more than they are "for" abortion. What we are for is freedom, and
we have to do what we do in order to preserve that freedom. It has never
been pleasant, but I don't think we would be able to express ourselves so
freely here now if someone had not stood up and dared to fight. There is
always a tyrant and a bully ready to stone the helpless or cut the tongues
out of people for speaking against his regime. Even on the school grounds
politeness was seen by the bully as weakness. Even though I was a girl, I
had to get rid of some bullies myself by beating the tar out of them, ( not
your normal Southern belle).Once I did that, they left me alone. I recognize
the fact that you are a pacifist, and that is fine with me. But please be a
realist too. Enough said. And don't take me off this list. I can stand up
for myself. Sue P.S. Any further disagreement though let's conduct through
e-mail.
