Not sure who to consult on the following Quick query, so I thought I'd
ask the combined brainpower. Any ideas please? I have a Quick query of
my own to address, so I'd much appreciate it if someone could take up
the reins on Q187.
I believe SGI is big-endian, so it ought not to be too difficult.

Subject: reading SGI binary files on a PC
Hi,
Is there a method by which I can read SGI binary files (correctly) from
with linux on a PC?
The files are mostly double-precision - but not exclusively.
The only other thing I can tell you is that they can be read on a SUN
quite successfully. Specifically, they are files from the UKAFF machine.
Unfortunately we have no fast SUNs to analyse our data these days.
Thanks
Steve
